IAPA provides members outside North America with a unique lost and delayed baggage compensation policy which provides cash benefits of up to US$900 (£500 / 750€) for delayed and lost checked-in baggage. These benefits are paid IN ADDITION to any other policy you may hold and regardless of the contents of your baggage!
These days, that is a valuable safety net for any frequent traveler. You only have to lose your bags once to realise what an inconvenience (and how expensive) it can be!
All your checked-in airline luggage is covered to the following levels:
| Delayed Baggage for a total of 12 hours: | US$90 / £50 / 75€ |
| Delayed Baggage for a total of 24 hours: | US$270 / £150 / 225€ |
| Delayed Baggage for a total of 72 hours: | US$540 / £300 / 450€ |
| Total Loss of baggage (additional benefit): | US$360 / £200 / 300€ |
| Total Compensation: | US$900 / £500 / 750€ |
But we do more than just pay compensation. All of our members receive special baggage tags and access to IAPA’s unique bag tracing service.
Once you protect your bags with IAPA's unique Bag-Guard® tags, then, should your
checked-in luggage become lost you simply notify the
airline and then one call to your IAPA Membership Office will initiate a search via the airline's transportation system.
We will then help track down your luggage and arrange to have it returned to you.

Guard against lost luggage:
- Remove all old airline destination labels from your luggage
- Secure your IAPA Bag-Guard® tags to the handles of your luggage and secure the stickers to the inside
- At check-in verify that the airline destination label put on your bags is correct.
- Claim your luggage immediately upon arrival
- Always keep IAPA informed of changes to your address and telephone number in case we need to contact you regarding retrieved luggage.
