Climate change and travel

At IAPA, our aim has always been to represent the interests of frequent flyers, and to campaign for passenger rights in the fields of, among others, safety, security, comfort and value for money.

With rights come responsibilities, and we are keenly aware that many of our members have become more conscious of the impact of carbon emissions on the global environment, not least as a result of air travel. We have therefore researched a number of services that claim to offset such emissions, and have chosen one of the most reputable to make available a method of calculating the emissions when you fly.

Climate Care is a service that helps you to repair the damage your activities do to the climate. It does this by ‘offsetting’ the greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2, from your activities by reducing an equivalent amount of CO2 on your behalf. These reductions are made through a range of projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency, which not only fight climate change but bring benefits to communities round the world. You can offset emissions from flying, driving and household energy use.

To find out more about the impact of your flight, use the calculator on the right, and you can then opt to make a payment if you wish.
