Ticket prices are creeping up, so are add-on fees, and the cost of fuel is bubbling over again. About the only thing that many airlines see going down are their customer satisfaction rankings. This could explain why many of them are carrying fewer of those dissatisfied patrons.

According to global marketing information company J.D. Power and Associates, customer satisfaction with airlines in North America has sunk to a four-year low. In a press release, the company cited cutbacks on in-flight services, increases in fees and issues with the helpfulness and courtesy of flight crews as key drivers of passenger displeasure. On-time performance and baggage handling has improved but this fact has not negated the negatives when it comes to the overall airline service scores.
